The Mixed Veggies # 2

Vegetable garden update: pumpkin and tomato. These were about 6 inches tall on May 9th when they were planted in the garden. With summer officially upon us, they are blooming well and growing up to have promise :)

a happening week indeed

The week started with the joyful news of the birth of baby Roshan. God bless the cutie pie and congratulations to the worthy parents and well wishers.
and then happened the sharp turn towards a truly hectic work week - audit audit audit!
amongst all of this, a spanking new 'privacy' fence was coming up in the backyard.
friday came with its usual relief, work wise too..
on friday night, the shocking news of the resignation of Gov. Jon Huntsman hit hard..more on that later.
and now satursday morning, I'm digesting the election results and related news from the motherland...Jai Ho indeed.

The Mixed Veggies - # 1

Its that time of the year- the lil baby saplings can come outdoors to face the elements, all by themselves, all day and all night. Seeds (tomato, radish. carrot, cauliflower, eggplant, marigold) were sown about 4-6 weeks back in baby pots and they were nurtured indoors, until this week. With the weather being favorable and 'danger of frost' having gone (well, at least of successive days of frost), this Mother's Day weekend is considered the right time to do so and so we did.
We started the Saturday bright and early, attending the overcorwded Wasatch Community Gardens annual plant sale (see pic) followed by picking up our order from the Salt Lake Conservation District's 1st Annual Native Plant Sale (yumm!).

We already have the 'raised bed' ready for planting and today and tomorrow, I will be busy creating a 'veggie patch' in the backyard. Ruchika is all over the planting and nurturing :) She has found innovative means to re-use old pots/ spaces for the saplings. We are excited and will keep updating these Stories.
